Yet another busy day whirs by. Did you manage to do anything for yourself? Or, was it another day when you juggled so many plates it’s a wonder they didn’t come crashing down? When everyone wants a little piece of you, you’re like a computer with multiple tabs open and running in your ‘browser.’ With kids around, your mind never goes on standby. Finally, it’s quiet. The kids are in bed, settled and asleep. How can we wind down and sleep peacefully? We know a well-rested parent can conquer the world (of tantrums, sibling wars, and school-runs). But, it’s hard to come by. Frantic to achieve deep restorative sleep and to let go of stress, I looked for a few things to help me to...
My photography studio is a toddler, and I can't believe we made it! It’s surreal to think two years ago I wasn’t sure I could even do it. With my baby in my arms, committing to a commercial space was scary, but in my heart, I wanted to do it. Little did I know what I would learn or how I would grow as a photographer and as an artist, too. It was not only because I had a very young family that I wanted to create a permanent photographic studio. I knew it was time for space where I could prioritize my clients’ wish for exclusive baby keepsakes. I dreamed of shooting beautifully lit photographs that captured the tenderness of a newborn; the radiance...
Not on Dublin’s high-street: a bespoke baby foot and hand cast with professional baby portrait You have brought a new, precious life into the world. Can you believe how perfect your little miracle is? Your heart melts, as you fall under their spell. They reach up to you. You place your finger in the palm of their tiny hand... Their chubby, perfect foot kicks the air. You hold it gently, almost unable to believe this life is yours to cherish and protect. Those tiny hands that wrap around your finger will soon be bigger. Those darling little feet will soon try on shoes for a nursery. Don’t you wish they might stay this way forever? As a mother of two, I know how priceless baby...
Hugo was 3 months old When I meet him and his family in my studio for his baby photographs. I also meet Gabriel, Hugo’s big brother who was few months short of 2 years of age at the time. I can simpy say, the session was a lot of fun. Bribing, singing, playing toddler games to get the two boys in one picture together was the only way to work that day. But it did happen, the two boys in one place at one time and the end result, the big canvas that’s in their family home wall, is really worth it. [ess_grid alias="hugo gab blog"]
Ivy had so much fun having her pictures taken with her family. Ivy and her big sister Holly Maye are just perfect little models for cute sibling photos Ivy had so much fun having her pictures taken with her family. Ivy and her big sister Holly Maye are just perfect little models for cute sibling photos After the big mess was completed there was a great clean up to do. Ivy took into the bath fun with equal joy. How would anyone year old refuse a bubble bath excitement?
I meet Olivia just before the Christmas break when she was only 14 days new. Gorgeous little darling has watched me work with her amazing big eyes. Olivia was so alert for her age. At mum's request, we used a lot of pinks. It also was great opportunity to capture the priceless family photo of the new family. There is nothing as amazing as seeing the love and happiness that new baby brings into the world. I hope these images are going to be treasured and loved for generations to come. The family legacy preserves with printed images.
It’s been a few days since Christmas and we are all slowly getting back to a normal routine again. On my first day back I opened a fab email from a family that I had photographed a few weeks ago. Nanna got her Christmas gift. Together we have created images of all the new arrivals and updates of family portraits and some up-to-date snaps of the cheeky monkeys over the last few years. This time they have asked for a “good photo of all the grandchildren” So we collected the crowd in the studio. It was fun to work with all the children, getting them in the mood for the best snap possible. I did use some “Photoshop magic” but the final image was a...
One weekend day in autumn I got to meet 8 days new little girl called Autumn. She had the most amazing head of thick black hair. Autumn was very curies about what we were about to do and stayed awake for a while, so I could take some photos with her beautiful eyes open. After a little top up of her food and amazing cuddles from her big sister she happily fallen asleep. One gorgeous spring day I welcomed Aoibhinn and her parents into my studio in Chapelizod. Aoibhinn just turned one and we were going to capture her beautiful lively character in photos to mark the occasion. She loved to run and explore the studio and quickly found that the our rocking horse is a lot of fun. [red_one_half] [/red_one_half] [red_one_half_last] [/red_one_half_last][red_spacer spacer_margin=”50″][/red_spacer] The cake was yellow, we decorated the set with some yellow bunting to give it more spring feeling. It couldn’t be more perfect colour combination to reflect Aoibhinn’s character. She loved making mess. She also loved to share her delicious treat. [red_one_half] [/red_one_half] [red_one_half_last] [/red_one_half_last] [red_spacer spacer_margin=”50″][/red_spacer] As Aoibhinn got bored with the messy fun we moved to the clean up part. Little tub…
Matthew's mammy knew exactly what was she doing when picking colors for the cake smash. The blue accents go so well with Mathew's gorgeous hair! The set up was very simple. For Matthew to stand out and play a main role in the photos. His little character is so colorful that it worked beautifully for his photos. When he has got his big treat, he couldn't believe his luck. The fun with the cake was amazing. All of the expressions and true emotions we see when Matthew plays with it are just priceless. The bathtub part was as much fun as the cake. What little boy doesn't like to splash and kick the bubbles? Cheeky little faces are "the must"! It was...
